The How
So how does induction cooking work? In these particular cooktops the heat is generated by the metals in the cookware via electrical induction. The cooktop contains a copper wire which when it comes in contact with the suitable pot/pan it passes an alternating electric current through it. These currents flow in closed loops within conductors and is called an eddy current which is induced by varying magnetic fields that alternates from positive to negative.
The Test
A great way to test out if your pans, pots, and cookers are induction-cooking friendly, is to grab a fridge magnet and check if it sticks to the bottom or the body of the vessel. If it does, you have the answer!
