Basanti Polao is a Bengali delicacy, the polao which has a mild sweet taste, usually cooked on special occasions. This aromatic, delicious Polao is often served with Kosha Mangsho (Bengali Spicy Mutton Curry), or Chanar Dalna (Curry made with fresh Cottage Cheese balls and Potatoes ) for a vegetarian version. Traditionally the polao is cooked with a fragrant rice variety of Bengal named Gobindobhog Rice. If this rice is unavailable then the Polao can be cooked with any aromatic small grain rice variety.
Switch on the Prestige Delight Smart Electric Rice Cooker, and heat ghee in it.
Add turmeric powder, tej patta, washed rice and salt, mix well.
Next add cashew nuts, raisins, sugar, javitri powder, and garam masala powder, mix well.
Add water, mix and cover the cooker.
