Our favourite spice Black peppercorn is the star ingredient in this dal recipe. Dal has been always a comfort food, this Dal Kali Mirch is like a warm hug in the bowl and it tastes excellent with steamed rice. Easy to prepare in a cooker for a quick meal in no time.

Heat oil in the TTK Prestige Flip-on Svacch Pressure Cooker. Temper with crushed black peppercorns.

Next, add sliced onion, and sauté until light brown in colour.

Add dal, green chillies, salt, turmeric powder, and ginger paste, mix well.

Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Open the cooker lid when the pressure has been released entirely on its own.

Add water to the cooked dal to adjust its consistency, cook over medium heat for a minute, and remove from the heat.

In another pan heat ghee, temper with the spices mentioned ‘for tempering’, and pour immediately over the hot dal, mix gently.

Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with steamed rice, and enjoy!
