Karachi Biscuits is also known as Fruit Biscuits. It uses refined flour, butter, sugar, custard powder and tutti frutti (candied dried papaya). These eggless cookies have derived their name from the popular ‘Karachi Bakery’ in Hyderabad. These are crispy and buttery cookies with the crunch from tutti-frutti. These biscuits taste so delicious that you can’t resist yourself to have more. These are very easy to prepare by following this simple recipe. Preheat the Prestige OTG for 10 minutes at 180 degrees Celcius.
ake a mixing bowl, add butter and sugar, pineapple essence. Mix well with a spatula or a spoon. Mix it for 3 to 4 minute to get a creamy and fluffy mixture. (You can use beater as well)
Take another bowl and add refined flour, custard powder, baking powder. Mix well.
Add this flour mixture in two batches in the butter mixture. Mix well.
Add cardamom powder and tutti frutti to it. Mix well with hands.
Add 1 to 2 teaspoon of milk to it. Mix well to make a dough like mixture. (add more milk if required)
Divide the dough in two part and give a cylindrical shape to the dough. Make sure it has no cracks.
Cover the dough with cling wrap. Keep this in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
Once cooled, take them out. Then remove the cling wrap. Cut the dough in round shape. The thickness should be less than a inch. (you can give any shape to the cookies of your choice)
Line the baking tray with butter paper. Place the biscuits on the baking tray. Keep a distance between each biscuit.
Place the baking tray in the Preastige OTG (top and bottom convection mode).
Bake the biscuits for 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celcius.
Once baked, take them out. Cool them. Keep in an airtight container.
