Sarson Ka Saag is an all-time famous and delicious saag generally served with Makke Ki Roti. This is a classic and traditional recipe from Punjab. This is a winter delicacy served with a dollop of butter. It is lip-smacking and a flavourful dish. To make the saag is a time-consuming process but it is worth it because the outcome is delicious. All family members will love this very much. So, try it out at home and get appreciated.
Chop and wash all the three leaves. Wash them properly 4 to 5 times.
Take a pressure cooker, add chopped leaves, green chilli, ginger and salt. Close the lid.
Take one whistle on a high flame then lower the flame. Cook it on a low flame for half an hour. Then let it cool.
Add water (one big coffee cup) if not there. Close the lid. Again pressure cook on high flame for one whistle. Then lower the flame and cook it for half an hour.
Let it cool. Open the lid. Cook it on a low flame for 15 minutes. Mash it with ghotni/mathani. Keep aside.
Take Prestige Omega delux Pan, add oil and heat it.
Add finely chopped garlic and saute it until it turns pink. Add finely chopped ginger to it and saute.
Then add finely chopped onion, saute it on a low flame.
Once the onion turns golden brown then add chopped tomato to it. Mix well and saute.
Cook the tomato on a low flame until it turns soft. Mash the tomatoes in between.
Once the oil leaves from sides, add mashed saag to it. Mix well.
Cook it on a low flame for 5 minutes.
Finally garnish the saag with chopped coriander leaves. Switch off the gas.
Take it out on a serving bowl.
